Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Old railway bridge over the B6399 at Whitrope The Waverley Line was the North British Railway's line between Edinburgh and Carlisle, through the Scottish Borders. Opened in two stages, between 1849 and 1862, the railway linked the Border towns of Galashiels, Melrose, St.Boswells and Hawick. It was finally closed in 1969. At this point, the line crosses the narrow B6399 Newcastleton to Hawick road, just south of the Whitrope Heritage Centre NT5200, dedicated to commemorating and restoring the line.
