Summary[edit]
DescriptionOperation Vigilant Seahawk 160613-Z-QM883-621.jpg |
English: KINSTON, N.C. – NC Guardsmen and NC Emergency Management test their emergency response capabilities. The North Carolina National Guard and NC Emergency Management’s Eastern Regional Coordination Center along with federal, state and local partners conducts Operation Vigilant Seahawk from June 13 - 22, 2016 in multiple locations across Eastern North Carolina. The exercise scenario; a category 3 hurricane has impacted the state causing severe flooding and widespread infrastructure and property damage.
This exercise provides a realistic location for the NCNG to plan, execute and assess emergency response capabilities that closely replicate a real world event. In this exercise scenario, the ports of Wilmington and Morehead City require additional assets to secure their facilities due to damage from a hurricane and cyber security threats. The NCNG, NC Emergency Management, other state and federal partners will coordinate efforts to secure and assist the ports.
