Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Original Rail from the Southwold Railway. On the section between Blythburgh and Walberswick is this small section of rail. The path humps a bit near the pub because it is where a world war two gun placement was sited. The gun earthworks buried some track so it was never lifted.

The railway was narrow gauge at 3ft, running from Southwold to Halesworth (8.75 miles). After road competition and a run down of trade the board cut their losses and closed the line in 1929. Track was ripped up in the second world war. Little engines like this used to run on the line.

The Southwold Railway trust is currently building a replica of Blyth (one of the engines).

Another piece of track can be seen at the harbour 1758863
