Then he em-barked, sailed down within view of the fort,went through a feint of landing all his menfor an assault, thus deceiving the Spaniardsinto placing their cannon on the rear wallsof the fort, after which he cleared the en-trance with no loss worth mention, andsailed away to Jamaica. The purchase incoin, plate and jewels amounted, as atPorto Belio, to 250,000 pieces of eightbesides the merchandise and slaves.
