Description
English: Overview of the officially amended version of Banchi Chikeizu [The Topographic Map of Aboriginal Lands], a compiled result of Japanese investigations of indigenous lands in Taiwan during the early 20th century. The vast blank space extending from Bulaksang to Laipunuk in southeastern Taiwan results from a series of armed conflicts between Japanese land survey teams and the local Bununs. Contour line representing modern coastline of Taiwan is digitally stacked as a reference.
中文（臺灣）：臺灣日治時期大正年間製版的《五萬分一蕃地地形圖》（正式版），由68幅地圖組成，涵蓋當時臺灣內山的蕃地與周遭地帶，為大日本帝國臺灣總督府對臺灣蕃地的測繪成果，也是其後來加強控管山區原住民的重要依據。

This photograph is in the public domain in Japan because its copyright has expired according to Article 23 of the 1899 Copyright Act of Japan (English translation) and Article 2 of Supplemental Provisions of Copyright Act of 1970. This is when the photograph meets one of the following conditions:
