Summary
[edit]DescriptionPalmer's Farm, Wilmcote - geograph.org.uk - 1775661.jpg |
English: Palmer's Farm, Wilmcote This building was long believed to have been the childhood home of Mary Arden, Shakespeare's mother. For that reason it was purchased by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in 1930. However, in 2000 it was established that Mary Arden had in fact been brought up in the adjacent Glebe Farm, which was by then also owned by the trust. As a consequence, the building here was renamed Palmer's Farm after Adam Palmer who owned it for a period in the 16th century. It is now part of a reconstruction showing how a 16th century farm might have been. |
