English: Fence and the sea by Peacehaven.
Original caption: Peacehaven - WGS-84 meridian marker The Greenwich meridian has a fancy monument about 104 m west in the next square. This fencepost is as near as I could plot the WGS-84 meridian - the practical navigation one indicated on GPS devices and appearing on Google Earth. There is a third extant meridian about 110 m west of this point and so on the other side of the big monument. This is the Ordnance Survey one, predating Greenwich and appearing on OS maps. This has no formal marker either. |
