English: This is the pectoral for the shortlived 22nd dynasty Egyptian king Heqakheperre Sheshonk or Sheshonq II which was discovered from his intact burial at Tanis in 1939 by Dr. Pierre Montet. This pharaoh is today believed by Egyptologists to have ruled Egypt for 2 or 3 short years from Tanis during the early 9th century BCE. This photo was taken at the King Tut exhibition at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle, Washington State, USA. |
