Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast Path Veering off Mill Road in southerly direction, flanked by attractive flint and brick cottages. One of the tourist hotspots along this stretch of coast during July and August, Brancaster is a fairly quiet village through the rest of the year. The area offers sandy beaches with easy access, and National Nature Reserves as well as golf links in the vicinity; boats and canoes can be hired at the nearby Brancaster Staithe harbour which is owned by the National Trust. Locally-caught fish and mussels and freshly-picked samphire from the marshes can be purchased from road-side fishmongers. Brancaster once was the site of a Roman camp and cemetery called Branodunum, and in later years the centre of smuggling contraband from France.
