nprove to you that there is such a disease asappendicitis, which originates in the appendixitself, and if permitted.to go on, forms anabscess in the lumen of the appendix, and inthe majority of cases, if left alone will burstthe wall of the over-distended appendix, thussending its deadly poisonous contents into the general peritoneal cavity and causing generalperitonitis and later death. I have operated on several cases of appendi-citis and can produce as evidence, appendiceswhich have been perforated by, appendicularabscess, and have actually become gangrenousin character, when found in the body of thepatient. The cuts that you have to representthe appendix and adjacent viscera are of therudest that could be pictured by a grammarschool student. I am very sorry to see myprofession torn to pieces in such a shamefulmanner, and if there are some black sheep in it,the better ones should not suffer. I think itmy duty to uphold them. Dr. G. J.
