The Eyelids.The upper andlower eyelids pro-tect the delicatemembranes of theeye and on theiredges are rows ofcurved hairswhich preventmuch dust andforeign matterfrom entering theeye. The inner surface of the lids and the surface of theeye which they cover are kept moistened with a fluid,the tears, The tears are secreted by the lachrymal glands whichare just under the bony ridges at the outer end of theeyebrows.
