Summary[edit]
| Description |
English: Pilchard Inn, Burgh Island. This view shows the front entrance of this very old pub, rather than the more usual view from the beach (which is actually the rear of the building). Although inaccessible at high tide (other than by means of the sea tractor), the pub can get very busy in summer. It's at its most atmospheric, though, on a stormy winter's night when its seafaring and smuggling traditions seem almost tangible. |
