English: Plaque and Blacksmith's Arms, Grange Moor, Whitley Upper I think this is the first time that I have seen a commemorative plaque for the opening of a roundabout. Kirklees Metropolitan Council Grange Moor Roundabout This plaque was unveiled by Councillor Harold Sheldon Mayor of Kirklees - on 12th August 1994. The Blacksmith's Arms is on the 1850 map, and is at the junction of the Barnsley and Grange Moor Road, an ancient road turnpiked in 1758-9, and the Wakefield and Austerlands Trust road of the same date, but rebuilt in the early 19C. |
