Summary
[edit]DescriptionPond below aborted embankment - geograph.org.uk - 1754516.jpg |
English: Pond below aborted embankment Viewed from the end of the south branch of the aborted railway embankment, this pond or flooded pit appears to predate the embankment, and is directly in line with it. It seems very strange that a route was chosen involving extra work filling in this pond when it could so easily have been avoided. The north branch of the embankment would also be affected, but only partly. No further earthworks were started between here and the main Brighton line, although abutments for a widened bridge over Borde Hill Lane were completed and still exist. |
