| Description |
English: Port of Harwich Maritime Museum. This is 'Low Lighthouse', built in 1818 to replace an earlier wooden structure. Together with the nearby 'High Lighthouse' 539191 it provided leading lights for the entry channel into Harwich Harbour. The lights were discontinued in 1863 when the channel had altered to the extent that these lights had become known as the 'Misleading Lights'. It subsequently became the Pilot Station and is now the Port of Harwich Maritime Museum. |
