| Description |
English: Portpatrick Harbour railway station (site), Dumfries & Galloway Opened in 1862 by the Portpatrick Railway on a short but steep branch line from Portpatrick station, this station closed as early as 1868 when the schemes for ferries from here to Ireland failed. View north east from the buffers towards Portpatrick station - trains had to reverse there to go further east. We would have been looking end-on to the platform, with a short walk to the quayside. The old station area had become a bowling green when this image was taken. |
