English: Portrait of the Utrecht

Portrait of the ‘Utrecht’, stern view. Fore and main topsails filled; mizzen topsail aback; the main topgallant lowered on the cap and blowing out. On the tafferel, a crowned shield party per bend for Utrecht, with lion supporters. Two shields on the counter on the port side a lion rampant, on the starboard side crossed anchors for the Admiralty of Amsterdam.

In the Boymans-van Beuningen Museum, Rotterdam, there is a drawing of the ‘Utrecht’ viewed form the port quarter; there is also an offset from the same original, which is viewed from the starboard quarter and not in reverse.

The ‘Amsterdam’ was built in1665, 66 guns, and sunk in 1690. She was also called ‘Stad Utrecht’ or ‘Wapen van Utrecht’.
