Description

Posse do presidente João Figueiredo em 15 de março de 1979, em sessão conjunta do Congresso Nacional, presidida pelo Senador Luís Viana.

O mandato presidencial, de acordo com a Emenda Constitucional nº 08/77, passou a ser de 6 anos. João Figueiredo foi o último dos Presidentes Militares. Foi eleito por eleição indireta.
