Description |
English: A post-Medieval, silver cap hook, Treasure reference number 2011 T843. It comprises a hollow, cast, domed circular cushion sitting on a circular backplate. The cushion is decorated with a, central, incised rose surrounded by radiating lines to the outer edge of the cushion with smaller, incised lines between, possibly representing the outer petals of the rose or foliage. The circular-sectioned, S-shaped hook is soldered to the reverse.
Length 15.44mm, width (diameter of backplate) 12.90mm, thickness of hook 2.25mm, thickness of body 4.35mm, weight 2.74g. The precious metal content of this hook fulfils the requirements of the Treasure Act in that it is greater than 10 %. |
