Description
English: SAN FRANCISCO: November 14, 2014 -- The USPS is slated to lower service standards and to close 82 Mail Processing and Distribution Centers on January 5, 2015. The cuts will cause hardships for the public and small businesses, eliminate jobs, and destroy the world's most efficient and affordable delivery network. The cuts are absolutely unnecessary because the Postal Service has earned an operating profit of over a $1 billion dollars so this year. There is red ink, but it stems from political shenanigans, not inefficiency. In 2006, the lame-duck Congress mandated that the Postal Service pre-fundfuture retiree health benefits 75 years in advance, something no other public agency is required to do. Contact your local representative and let them know you want more services, not less! For more information, visit www.StopMailDelays.org.
