s, and it is often difficult toobserve from external examination that an injury has been re-ceived. The well-made skiagraph will always reveal the presenceof a piece of metal, no matter how small; but simply showing that apiece of metal or other foreign substance exists in the eye is notenough—its exact location, whether above or below, in the nasalor temporal side, or in the anterior or posterior portion, must beknown. This might be determined by making two exposures atright angles to each other—i. e., one laterally and the other antero-posteriorly. An anteroposterior skiagraph of the head, showing agreat amount of detail, is very difficult to make. It was soon foundthat all skiagraphs of the head must be made from side to side whensearching for foreign bodies in the eye or face. Several methodshave been used, some of which are very good, but the method ofDoctor Sweet is probably the best, and will be exclusively used here. 389 390 PRACTICAL ELECTRO-THERAPEUTICS AND X-RAY THERAPY
