| Description |
English: The view west along Princes Street in Edinburgh's New Town, at its junction with Castle Street. The building currently occupied by HSBC is apparently original. The rubbish truck waiting at the lights belonging to Noblet Municipal Services is comically small, so small it's presumably well suited to negotiating narrow city centre streets, although in this scene it's got this particular main thoroughfare all to itself. This solitude is perhaps due to the fact this western section is restricted to buses and taxis only. In a weeks time it would also officially be open to Edinburgh Trams traffic, although the trams had long since been running for testing/training purposes by this time. As part of similar traffic reduction measures, the junction with Castle Street has been physically blocked off. The traffic lights remain however, presumably for the pedestrian crossing. Note the horizontal row of lights on the set on the far right - these are dedicated tram signals, in this case telling trams to stop also. |
