Then again, it is a matter of necessity that Canada should maintain herplace in the very front rank in the race. The dominant traits of her sons are an ambition to go ahead and a grimdetermination to be in the Advance Guard of Progress; in fact, to be theleaders of the Advance Guard. There is not a country in the world more favored by nature than theDominion of Canada. Her climate is one which contributes largely to thebringing up of a hardy race of men and women—a race which has in thetimes of the past furnished the great leaders who have commanded themasses on the march toward the highest form of civilization. Canadians are of the stock which sent forth men to every region andsection to explore, colonize and develop. England is the only nation whichis naturally a colonizer.
