Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Railway Cottage. This gate lies across the trackbed of the former Aylesbury & Buckingham Railway that was built in the 1860s. The next station to the north was Granborough Road, and the station to the south was Quainton Road. The railway had a varied history, and was closed to passenger services in 1936 when the line was part of London Transport, see 379579. The house is called Railway Cottage and most likely there was an occupation crossing here, that is a crossing for a private track to a farm or house, and the cottage was for the crossing keeper.
