The boiler can beblown down while the engine is in motion.The Southern Valve Gear with outsidepiston admission valves has been selected :this is believed to be the first appearanceof the Southern Gear in .^ustralia; andalso the first appearance of outside mo-tion on the road engines of the NewSouth Wales system. This engine is designated No. 1353 Kclass, and is attached to the main run-ning shed at Eyelcigh. It bears the usuallivery of the road (i. c, black with red lines and facings, and brake numerals onthe cab-sides), and it presents a fine solidappearance. It is designed to run 500- truck wheels, 33yo ins. diameter; iieatingsurface, firebox, 174.4 sq. ft.; lubes,1.S82.5 sq. ft.; superheater, 444.8 sq. ft.;
