Summary[edit]
DescriptionRampart of Chiselbury hill fort - geograph.org.uk - 437774.jpg |
English: Rampart of Chiselbury hill fort Chiselbury is a univallate iron age hill fort at the top of the north-facing scarp edge of the White Sheet Hill ridge. In this photo the hill fort interior is to the right and the (largely in-filled) exterior ditch is to the left. No traces of occupation have been found in the hill fort's interior, probably due to ploughing over the past few centuries. A cross-dyke protrudes from the north and south sides of the hill fort, perhaps indicating that its occupants once controlled the traffic along the ridgeway. |
