Description

Founded by John Stanier Clarke and John McArthur and published monthly between January, 1799 and December, 1818, the Naval Chronicle detailed the exploits of the British Royal Navy. Each issue included biographies of famous naval officers, accounts of battles, shipwrecks, and new discoveries, letters about current affairs, and a selection of poetry and songs. Noted maritime artist Nicholas Pocock contributed many of the engraved illustrations. This volume is 520 pages and includes 15 plates.
