Summary
[edit]DescriptionReichsstadt Nürnberg Territorium, F. de Wit, 1688.jpg |
English: Detail cropped out of a late 17th century map showing the extensive territory of the Free Imperial City of Nuremberg (areas in pink). Cropped out of a map centered on the eastern part of the Circle of Franconia created in 1688 by cartographer Frederik de Wit and reissued by Covens et Mortier under the title Partie orientale du Cercle de Franconie. The firm of Covens et Mortier, founded in 1721, reissued atlases of other cartographers, many of whom had died many decades before. Therefore, the maps they re-published might have been outdated as far as political borders etc. were concerned. |
