Text Appearing After Image:
THE LAST PARALLEL RUN INTO THE DITCH OF FORT WAGNER.FIGHTING WITH HAND GRENADES. CAPTIRE OF FORT WAGNER AND BATTERY GREGG time the officers had assembled. The echoes of that terrible charge and slaughter ofJuly 18th where so many brave men met their death, stillthrilled every man of the command. Now we werecalled upon to not only face like conditions, but to be thefirst to meet the murderous fire. The officers had all assembled and the commandingofficer most impressively stated the proposition and everyman present knew too well its import. Concluding hesaid: Commanders of companies, call your men into lineand state the situation to them. Tell them that
