Ninety days after date please to pay to Edward G. Faile pr order Seven Hundred Dollard and place the same to the account of [illegible] to Samuel Willet Merchant New York "]
“Waterloo 8 mo 8th 1824
Esteemed Friend E.G. Faile above I send thee a draft on S. Willets for $700 @ 90 days which I wish thee to have Lodge in a Bank for collection or discounted to take up the draft I drew on thee 4 mo 23rd in Favour of A & Simpson at 4 ms for $495 10/100 one of my neighbours. I [J?] L Booth has written to Hartford to have some money paid in to thee on my a/c I wish when he pays it to thee thee would write to me and Informe me how much he has paid on my a/c so I can settle with Booth. I did Intend to Send a large draft but have been disappointed in getting my Flour made and sent off. I find hard collecting at this time and fear it will continue to be So as the price of Wheat has fallen in N.Y. our farmers look for 8/ but it is not worth over 6/ I wish thee to send me 1 hhd molasses, 1 Bbl Coffee 1 chest of Y.H. Tea 2 bbl Mackerel No 2 2 Bbls No 2 Shad &C R.P. Hunt”
