| Description |
English: River Mersey, and Ship Canal, Warrington. This view is looking west toward Warrington town centre. When the Canal was built, several sections of the Mersey were diverted; here a new channel was cut for the river alongside the Canal (visible beyond the river). The 1940s map still shows part of the course of the river to the south of the Ship Canal. |
