English: Roman Aqueduct, Dorchester The aqueduct was built as a water supply for the 2nd Legion's fort at Dorchester at the time of the conquest and when Durnovaria was built later it was used to supply the town. The line of the aqueduct followed the contours as can be seen in this photo coming in on the left foreground and curving round in a horseshoe shape round the small valley |
