Summary
[edit]DescriptionRoman Mile Stone, Near Llanfairfechan. - geograph.org.uk - 104811.jpg |
English: Roman Milestone, Near Llanfairfechan. A view of a replica Roman milestone found at Rhiwiau-uchaf Farm. The original, RIB 2265 (see here, is not 2266 - no mp), has been removed to the British Museum (P&EE 1883 7-25 1), gift of Major Henry Platt. The Romans probably passed this marker on their route to the Isle of Anglesey; the obvious crossing is visible in the background across Traeth Lafan (Lavan Sands). This crossing was still in daily use until the 1820's when Telford's suspension bridge was opened.
