Summary
[edit]DescriptionRose Street Junction, Inverness - geograph.org.uk - 960036.jpg |
English: Rose Street Junction, Inverness Inverness railway station, the ends of Platforms 5-7 being seen on the right beyond the Royal Mail vans, is V-shaped, with the lines to the north and to the south diverging within station limits either side of the locomotive depot (the long building with the pale grey roof). A station avoiding line connects the North and South lines and, from Longman Road bridge over Rose Street Junction, First ScotRail diesel unit No 158728 is seen taking this line during a shunting manoeuvre. The track behind the fence on the left once led down to Inverness Harbour but in more recent years served a yard where containers of food and other items were transferred from railway wagons to lorries for distribution by road to Safeway supermarkets. |
