| Description |
English: Royal Naval War Memorial and Drake's Statue - Plymouth Hoe The memorial is dedicated to members of the Commonwealth navies who died in the two world wars, including those who died ashore in the periods concerned.
In 2008 a plaque was removed by thieves for its scrap value. The next night a further three plaques were removed for the same purpose. The plaques were later recovered but two were too damaged to repair and had to be recast, the others being repairable. One of those responsible was later arrested and sentenced to an indefinite period in prison for this and other offences. |
