English: Susan Nelson, left, Executive Director of the Office of Naval Research’s, SeaPerch Program and Chris Deckard a senior scientist at Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific encourage young SeaPerch navigators as they pilot SeaPerch miniature Remotely Operated Vehicles in a display pool at the 14th Annual International RoboSub Competition held at SSC Pacific. SeaPerch, sponsored by the Office of Naval Research, is an innovative underwater robotics program that trains teachers to teach their late elementary and middle school students how to build ROVs from low-cost kits. As the Navy's Information Dominance Systems Command, SPAWAR supports robotics development and strongly encourages all students to explore careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields.
