Summary[edit]

Description
English: Saxon cross, St Mary's Church, Easington Located at the base of the west wall of the tower, the oldest part of the church built in C12, is a Saxon cross dating from C10 or C11 carved in a slab of Magnesian Limestone. It is probably from a gravestone or dedication cross. Its presence here suggests that the current church was built on the site of a much earlier Anglo-Saxon church.
