Summary[edit]

Description
English: Day two of the Dublin Maritime Festival.

The Dublin Maritime Festival has been one of my favorite events but over the last two years the quality of the "maritime" element of the festival has greatly reduced and more and more effort is now being devoted to getting people to part with their hard earned money. For example in 2008 there were 7 tall ships but this year there were only five ( 4 were scheduled) and two of these were rather small.
Last year many of the tall ships charged for public visits but thankfully this idea appears to have been dropped possibly because it reduced the amount of beer that was sold on-board.

At this stage I am beginning to suspect that the festival is in fact an off-the-shelf package that tours the ports of Europe.
