| Description |
English: Sewer vent pipe, junction Harrow Road/Carshalton Road, Carshalton, Surrey This shows the top of this vent pipe, one of some 20 noted in Carshalton. Only one similar decorated pipe has been discovered anywhere else, which was in Chester. There are many places that have sewer vent pipes, but this very ornate type is known only at Carshalton (~20 examples) and Chester (1 example).
If anyone knows of any others like this I would be particularly pleased to hear. (note: street lamp for comparison of heights) |
