Summary[edit]
DescriptionSharp bend where the road was diverted around RAF Hell's Mouth - geograph.org.uk - 646500.jpg |
English: Sharp bend where the road was diverted around RAF Hell's Mouth The track in the field follows the line of the old road. With the construction of the airfield in the 1930s, this was replaced by a new and wider road which followed the perimeter of the base. This resulted in a sharp bend into the new section of road which has been the scene of frequent minor accidents.
Little remains of RAF Hell's Mouth. One of the best surviving features is a fine pill box which can be seen on the airfield's skyline, immediately to the right of the quad-bike. |
