| Description |
At the National Tramway Museum in Crich. The Museum started in the 1950s / 60s when most of the old tram networks in the cities of the UK were being closed down. The Tramway Museum Society was formed in the late 1940s when the decline began and they started to purchase the trams, track etc. The Crich site came to the attention of the society in the late 1950s. They later purchased the site. At the Crich Tramway Village. On Tramway Street Sheffield 510 - we would have at least two journeys on this tram! Our return ticket cost one old penny! It entered service in Sheffield in 1950. It was withdrawn 10 years later in October 1960. The tram has run more years at the museum than it ever did in Sheffield! Taken after our first return journey back to the village! |
