Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Shelter belt of Scots pines, Elveden Scots pines were planted from the mid 18th Century as windbreak hedges in this area to stop the light sandy soil from blowing away. The pines have thinned out leaving trees twisted and scattered rather than looking like hedges. The Brecks are an area of sandy soil and flint heathland and agricultural land in Norfolk and Suffolk. The pines are in the logo for the area - see http://www.brecks.org/default.aspx . These pines are by the Elveden Monument.
