Skålfat i dingporslin från Jindynastin, 1100-1200-tal.
Nyckelord: Fat, Skål, Porslin, Keramik
Description
Svenska: FAT. Ding ware porcelain dish with transparent glaze and moulded decorationSong dynasty, late 11th-early12th centuryDing ware was highly regarded, the best pieces being selected for the imperial court, and for high-ranking clergy in Buddhist monasteries. The crisply-moulded design inside is of lotus flowers, a plant closely associated with Buddhism. Decoration using moulds commenced later than carving on Ding ware, and together with multiple stacking within saggars, it allowed mass production. Moulds became less clear with successive use, so this dish appears to be an early impression, as the decoration is clearly defined. The unglazed rim was a result of upside-down firing within the stacked saggars. Unbound rims were often bound with copper, gold or silver bands, to the extent that there was a manufacturing unit within the palace that specialised in making metal rim-bands.
