Slovenščina: Kraški ovčar je nekaj stoletij stara pasma psov, ki so jih uporabljali kot pastirske pse na območju slovenskega Krasa, v največji meri pa v okolici Pivke. Pasmo omenja tudi Valvasor v knjigi Slava vojvodine Kranjske, leta 1689. Pasma je bila medna-rodno priznana že leta 1939 pod imenom ilirski ovčar, z današnjim imenom »kraševec« pa leta 1968. V preteklosti je bil kraševec najbolj razširjen na Krasu, danes pa pasma ni regijsko omejena, ampak razširjena po celi Sloveniji.
Kraški ovčar je srednje velik pes, skladno grajenega, mišičastega in zbitega trupa. Po značaju je umirjen, dobrodušen, pogumen, samostojen in nekoliko samosvoj pes. Kraški ovčar je lahko družinski pes, ki ga odlikuje velika privrženost njegovim vodnikom in članom družine. |
