Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Smailholm Tower. Home to the ancestors of Sir Walter Scott, this dramatically sited tower house fired his imagination when he was sent as a 'wee sick laddie' to convalesce in the neighbouring farmhouse. Now in the care of Historic Scotland, the tower houses a permanent exhibition of Scott's collection of traditional ballads, not to mention some of the most expansive views of the Borders from the rooftop.
