Description
English: Title: Some of the young workers in Laurel Cotton Mills, Laurel, Miss. Tallest man is Mr. Hollingsworth. Two of his boys in front row. Sylvester, ten years old, "Only helps in the mill afternoons and Saturdays." "But if I was twelve," he said, "I'd go to work to-morrow." The other boy, Floyd, said he was thirteen, but he doesn't seem to be. He said, "I sweeps. Get thirty cents a day. Sweepin' keeps you at it right steady. Not much time to rest. You have to be twelve to work."
