Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Southern Marsh Orchid (Dactylorhiza praetermissa) This orchid is relatively common in damp meadows, dune slacks, gravel pits, roadsides and old industrial sites throughout much of the southern half of the UK up to Lancashire/Yorkshire. Where it occurs, it can be very numerous. It also hybridises freely with other orchids, particularly with the Common Spotted Orchid (Dactylorhiza fuchsii), the resulting plant often being larger and more robust than its parents. This particularly plant was found in a ditch on the Royal St Georges golf course.
