Summary[edit]

Description
English: St. Laurence & Ring O'Bells public house, Overton. St Laurence is the parish church of Frodsham, the Domesday Book of 1086 recorded a Saxon chapel on the site. The present church has a 12th century nave and a 13-14th century choir and tower. In medieval times it also served the communities at Kingsley, Norley, Helsby, Alvanley and Manley, all predominantly farming communities at that time, although there was fishing at Frodsham (tidal marshes abutted Frodsham until the Manchester Ship Canal was built in the late 19th century) and Frodsham Bridge was a port, exporting mainly salt from Cheshire. The building to the left is the Ring O'Bells, a 15th century inn.
