| Description |
English: St. Mary's Portchester, western end The western end of the Norman church of St. Mary's in Portchester comprises an interesting ensemble. To the front can be seen the quite stubby North Transept, behind that rises the little pyramid-roofed tower over the Quire Crossing. The chancel pointing East is partly obscured by the vestry protruding from the eastern wall of the North Transept. This vestry was formerly a little chapel, and there was probably an equivalent one jutting out from the long-demolished South Transept.
