Description
English: Photographer: William Boag

Location: Ormiston, Queensland, Australia
Description: St Andrew's Church of England at Ormiston was erected around 1868, initially for use as a schoolroom and Sunday school for the children of employees of Ormiston sugar plantation. There is a popular belief that it was constructed at the request of Mrs Louis Hope (whose husband was a Presbyterian) .Later, St Andrew'sbecame the venue for local services, celebrations and funerals. From 1881 onwards, it was administered by Rev. Robert Creyke, who resided nearby at 'The Priory', a property which with its small pastures, cows, poultry and fruit garden resembled an old English country vicarage.
